Socketing rods

It skews the balance of power too far to not allow the purchase of socketing rods with vouchers.  Paying players will still enjoy a large advantage due to being able to purchase gems and being able to upgrade gems beyond level 5 for MDEF, PDEF, MATK, PATK, and HP and beyond 4 for anything else.  It would allow the free players the chance to stay semi-competitive with the paying players.  Free players should not be even with the paying players, but the disparity as it exists will cause a lot of the free players to quit.
Even if they can get socketing rods, most free players will have to socket level 2 or level 3 gems anyway.

HCthreat Posted at 2012-10-5 11:32

they simply need to get rid of these all together and just stick 3 slots on each part of gear, considering they bring new armours out every 10 lvls.

Avarix Posted at 2012-10-5 20:29

Every 5 levels really if you count the pve sets along with pvp sets

I agree with both of these recommendations. I am VIP and have bought a rather large amount of balens (although not nearly as many as some). But the idea of socketing rods needs removed and just put 3 open slots on each item. At the very least, Delphus idea of making them purchasable with Vouchers should be implemented.

In reality though, the socketing rods really are just another way of gouging players.

I totally agree with you on this Delphus. The devs should wake up to make the game a bit more balance between the non playing players and the paying ones. They don't have to wait up to the point where m*** exodus of players happen because of game imbalance. Just my two cents worth!!! :loveliness:

I hope they allow rods to be bought by vouchers or have it in exchange of something that we need to work on....then that would be of now the game is fun and still borders on excitement and thrill...I hope the latter part of this game doesn't get boring or I'll leave this game and replace it with something else again...Avalon - S1 :lol

Oh also another idea bout socketing rods. At least hold an event where they can be won?

This is one I will be putting to Devs after they return from their Holiday vacation. I did submit ur idea on crypt keys however, I think instead they did the current event allowing 2 free runs a day...which still maintains the incentive to purchase the keys yet allows this xtra run for all (especially non-paying players) to collect more gems & stones.

Have started to work on this issue already, as we have been monitoring attendance in events for several days now. A merge will take some time to set-up, backend software must be written & mock merge tests must be done to find glitches & other buggy stuff that wud cause problems during the real thing & fix...repeating this process till a clean merge can be done...even this may not reveal all issues & may still have small bugs afterwards to be resolved. The need is fast approaching on the horizon... hang in there ya'll :P

Yeah I know it wll take a while to set up which is why I mentioned it as soon as I saw it was needed. As an Evony veteran I know of the issues surrounding server merges so good luck to the devs hopefully they will do us proud!

Elfarin Posted at 2012-10-6 05:46

Server merges wouldn't need to happen if they stopped making new servers......just a thought.

Delphus Posted at 2012-10-6 07:51

Is this going to be an event like the badge event that 2/3 of us don't even get to compete in?  Or something that only the top 10 players will be able to attain?
An event that will only allow you to obtain a few socketing rods is pointless.  Most of the paying players have 24 sockets available.  Free players have 9 sockets available.  They have double the level gems, so that's almost a 6 times gem value.  And it's compounded by the fact that they can also buy daru stones for engraving.  If your opinion is simply on the free players, we only care about the money players then say that.  I can find a game to play that cares about both free and paying players.
I think the voucher purchase option makes the most sense.
You have a game that's less than two months old and you're already talking about server mergers.  That's some poor business planning on the part of the people running this thing.  You can't launch a new server every week and expect the old servers to not die.

dragonwolf Posted at 2012-10-6 08:43

This is a very good idea.  Do away with socketing rods and just open all sockets in gear.  Non-paying players can't get gems beyond lvl 4 and 5 depending on cl*** so there is no danger of non-paying players becoming the stronger over the paying players in the long run.  The socketing rods just create a much larger disparity between the 2 types of players and after a certain level, there will be no point in playing the game as a free player.

Agreed an event would be good or as an altenative suggestion a weekly quest for 1 or 2 socket rods or a monthly for between 4 and 8. I'd suggest being able to salvage socket rods from gear but thats not likely to happen given they are bought via balens, as a free player I now am faced with approaching level 45 gear without the extra sockets which will then begin to create a gulf between me and the players I have been keeping up with and challenging, I have no intention of paying so therefore it's now suffer falling back and watch my efforts dwindle away or leave wartune for another game.

raynor Posted at 2012-10-12 07:34

the fee to play players will be happy wen you remove all items you can buy to give you that extra edge what they need to remember they have bills to pay and socketing rods will be 1 of the most bought things in the shop so if they arent makeing money from them there going to get it from somewhere else i say just leave it how it is if you want to be a free to pay player you should wake up to the fact you arent going to have some of the luxurys as people who pay

I guess it's not enough of an edge to be able to double the potency of a gem instantly by paying and being able to overpower people that you have to also have that multiplied by 3 per gear slot so a total of 8 slots more with potency of gems way above and beyond that of a non payer and into it be able to go much further faster in catacombs picking up yet far more gems than others, there has to be balance somewhere otherwise all that will be left on each of these servers is the people who plough endless amounts of money into a character.

Perhaps I should start throwing wild accusations around that the likes of you are botting / hacking see if I get heard that way *coughs* lol

Raynor, you're an ***, you've always been an ***. Now everyone can see it. I dropped $240 on the last event alone, I am obviously not a F2P player and I agree the whole socketing rod thing is BS. The slots should either be open or purchasable with vouchers, end of story.
